Question 1

What counts as a task?

Anything with a clear end: fix this, build this, set this up. A product page change, a speed pass, an app swap, a Klaviyo flow, a landing page, a small store build. If what you bring to the call is really a project, we say so and suggest how to break it into tasks or scope it properly. Nothing gets quoted that we cannot finish.

How is it priced?

$175 an hour with a two-hour minimum. Every task is quoted as a fixed fee before work starts: the hours we expect it to take at that rate, and the date it ships. You pay the fee up front, and that is the whole cost of the task; if it takes us longer than we quoted, that is our problem, not yours. If you change the scope, we re-quote before doing more. The quote itself is free, whether or not you approve it.

Why is the fee paid up front?

Because the scope is fixed and the quote is the whole price, there is nothing left to reconcile after the work. Paying up front means the task starts the moment you approve it, with no purchase orders, deposits, or net terms to wait on, and no invoice arriving later with a different number on it.

Question 4

How fast do we hear back?

Accepted Answer

Sales replies within one business day, the same promise the rest of the site makes, and sets up a short call with the engineer or strategist the task needs. The quote follows the call, once the task is scoped: the hours we expect it to take at $175 an hour, as one fixed fee, and the date it ships. Delivery dates depend on the task; the quote is where you see yours.

Is there a call?

One short one, yes. It is how we understand the task well enough to quote it as a fixed fee, and it is faster than a week of email. After the call the task is written up and tracked in Jira like every project we run, and you hear from us at the points that matter: the quote, the preview link, and the publish.

Question 6

Who does the work?

Accepted Answer

The same engineers, designers, and marketers who build and run Shopify Plus stores for larger brands. On-Demand changes how you buy the work, not who does it. You get them for as long as the task takes and no longer.

Question 7

Is this only for Shopify?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Shopify and Shopify Plus are where a task can be scoped and quoted on its own: one theme, a known set of apps, a copy of the theme to work in, and a preview link to review. On other platforms the same work needs a project around it, so stores on Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, or anything else run through the service pages instead.

Question 8

What happens if the scope changes?

The quote covers the task as described. If you add to it, or we find something underneath that changes the job, we stop and send a revised quote before doing the extra work. You approve the change or keep the original scope. Either way nothing is billed that you did not approve.

Question 9

Do you work in our live theme?

Accepted Answer

No. We duplicate your theme, do the work on the copy, and send you a preview link to review. When you approve it we publish, and the previous theme stays available to roll back. Apps and settings that have to change in the live store are listed in the quote so nothing surprises you.

Question 10

What if one task turns into more?

Accepted Answer

Bring us the next one. Plenty of stores use On-Demand task by task for months. If the list grows into something a retainer would serve better, we will say so and show the math; managed services exist for exactly that. You choose, and there is no penalty for staying task by task.
